Dust Rays are comprised of Kirk Douglas and Mark Kelley of The Roots, and Ricc Sheridan of Hard Rockers and Earl Greyhound. Douglas and Sheridan have been playing together for the past 17 years. They met in now-defunct Cafe Tabac and instantly connected over their love for Rock & Roll. Douglas played on Sheridan’s first solo record and has been Sheridan’s guitarist ever since. The enormous success of The Roots has not kept Douglas from developing new music with Sheridan. The two have been tirelessly writing and recording their upcoming album "Delusions of Grandeur."
Mark Kelley joined Dust Rays in 2012 and continues to impress with his soulful and energetic bass skills. Kelley adds a warm and heavy sound to the group.
Their instrumental style mixes funk, soul, rock, and blues. Douglas’ beautiful songwriting is reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix, Gypsies, Robert Johnson, and other early rock/blues pioneers. Sheridan’s spirited drumming brings to mind John Bonham, Keith Moon, Elvin Jones, and Lenny White. Mark Kelley always puts forth deep, hard-hitting grooves. He has collaborated with Mos Def, John Scofield, and Elvis Costello, among others.
Don’t miss the undeniable force of nature, Dust Rays!
