Light Phone launch party

  • Livestream Public 195 Morgan Ave Brooklyn, NY, 11237 United States (map)

Artists are creators first, and for the best artists, the output of their creativity can take many forms. Joe Hollier is an animator, illustrator, painter, photographer, and most recently an inventor. As an artist, Joe is always focused on living in the moment, however over the past few years he has grown increasingly concerned that technology is taking that experience away from him.

Together with Kaiwei Tang, Joe developed the Light Phone … “your phone away from phone.” The Light Phone is designed to keep you connected to real life and free of distractions. It cannot text, post, navigate or check your pulse. It can fit nicely in your pocket (it’s about the size of a credit card) and make or receive calls from loved ones.

Sugarlift and Livestream Public are excited to celebrate the birth of the Light Phone and its successful Kickstarter campaign, which ends on June 27th.

The Light Phone launch will be held on Wednesday, June 24th with a keynote presentation from the founders, Joe and Kai, at Livestream Public at 195 Morgan Avenue from 7:00PM to 8:00PM. The presentation will also be broadcast via Livestream. Following the keynote, Sugarlift is holding a launch party across the street at 200 Morgan Avenue from 8:00PM to 11:00PM, including a special performance by a guest musician.

Both the keynote and launch party are free and open to the public, however we ask that guests RSVP via Eventbrite. First come, first serve, and space is limited!

Sugarlift will also be releasing a new series of photography by Joe Hollier and inspired by the Light Phone concept. “Joe has a very consistent eye,” says Wright Harvey, co-founder and President of Sugarlift. “You can see the connections between his photos, his philosophy on experiencing life, and the thoughtfully simple design of the Light Phone. We’re honored to be showing Joe’s work at Sugarlift for a second time and excited about the Light Phone’s launch!”
